3 Strategies for Coping with Anxiety and Stress

Simple but super helpful, concrete strategies for anxiety, stress, & panic attacks!

Last week I created a post on How to Let Go of Anxious Intrusive Thoughts. This post contained 3 strategies to use when battling intrusive thoughts. These same strategies can also be super helpful if you are feeling overwhelmed by a stressor. Now if you are just joining us I encourage you to read my 2 posts on the Stress response system in your brain which triggers your fight, flight, or freeze response (Brain #1, Brain #2) as it will provide you with a really important foundation for understanding anxiety and ultimately how to cope and manage your anxiety.

Today I would like to gift you with a fun letter which I originally wrote for children and youth but is fun and helpful for all ages! This letter contains 3 Strategies for Coping with Anxiety and Stress (and even panic attacks). The letter is written from the perspective of Olly the Wise Owl (your prefrontal cortex), who mentions his friends Amy the Security Guard (your Amygdala), and Hippo the Camel (your hippocampus). These three characters (parts of the brain) are the main contributors in your body’s stress response system.

Be sure to check it out…and as always comment below if you have any questions or would like to see posts on a certain mental health topic.
